Tehran (IP) - A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Parliament says the US has yet to accept Iran's proposals on obtaining a "guarantee" in the Vienna talks.

Iran PressIran news: Abolfazl Amouei, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Parliament, said: "Some solutions have been offered by Iran regarding obtaining a "guarantee" in the Vienna talks, but the United States has not accepted it yet."

On the sidelines of the open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly on Sunday, Amouei told Iran Press: "Now there is ambiguity for all parties whether the United States will really abide by its commitments or not."

Iran urges the United States to formally declare that Iran will receive compensation if the US violates its commitment again, but Washington is shrugging off. That is why the negotiations have been protracted, he noted.

Amouei added: "At the same time, Iran wants a legal guarantee because one of the excuses of the Americans is always that Congress does not cooperate with them, which is not logical because the government is our interlocutor, not the Congress."

"We need to maintain parts of our nuclear program so that we can resume our nuclear program if the United States does not live up to its commitments again," he said.

The eighth round of talks on the removal of anti-Iranian sanctions resumed on Dec. 27 in the Austrian capital of Vienna. Representatives from China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain, and Iran negotiate in Vienna to bring back the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on track.

Since the United States had withdrawn from the agreement, Iran decided that Washington's representatives would not be present at the talks and that Iran's agreement with the other JCPOA signatories would be transferred to them through an intermediary so, the United States is involved in the negotiations indirectly.
