The United Nations High Commissions for Refugees (UNHCR) said that over 120,000 Ukrainian refugees have left the country since Russia began its military operation on Thursday.

Iran PressEurope: Russia has launched "a special military operation" in Ukraine on Thursday. Russia's President Vladimir Putin says he had no other choice than to launch the military operation to stop the Ukrainian military's interference in two eastern republics that have broken away from Ukraine. Russia perceives NATO's eastward expansion as a threat.

The number was going up fast as Ukrainians grabbed their belongings and rushed to escape from a Russian military operation on their nation, including an attempt to take the capital.

Poland has declared its border open to fleeing Ukrainians, even for those without official documents.

On Saturday, a government official also said that the country sent a hospital train that will pick up those wounded in the war in Mostyska, in western Ukraine, and bring them to Warsaw for treatment.

The agency expects up to 4 million Ukrainians could flee if the situation deteriorates further.
