The Syrian army's air defense intercepted a rocket attack by the Israeli forces on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus on Thursday morning.

Iran PressMiddle East: "The Israeli regime carried out an air aggression from the direction southeast of Beirut, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus," a Syrian military source was quoted as saying in a statement published on state television.

The UN peacekeeping force based in Lebanon has repeatedly reported that the Israeli regime violates UN resolutions and Lebanese airspace on a daily basis.

Syria's official Sana news agency reported Thursday morning that the Syrian army's air defenses had intercepted and destroyed several missiles over the outskirts of Damascus.219
