Tehran (IP) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in his latest tweet, referring to the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Qatar, wrote that Iran is ready to expand cooperation with its neighbors.

Iran PressIran news: The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, has traveled to Doha at the official invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to attend the Sixth Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

During the main meeting with the Emir of Qatar, 14 cooperation documents were signed between Iran and Qatar.

Referring to the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation to Qatar, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian tweeted: "The Iranian president is a guest of the Qatari government and was warmly welcomed by the Emir of Qatar."

The Iranian Foreign Minister also wrote that strengthening relations with neighbors, especially Arab countries, is a key priority in the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The sixth summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will be held in Qatar.

Iran is one of the world's largest gas producers and one of the founders of GECF, which has served as its secretary-general for two terms.

Members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) account for 44% of world gas production, 67% of world gas reserves, 64% of pipeline gas transmission, and 66% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade.

Amir- Abdollahian further wrote that Iran-Qatar relations are rooted in the public and popular sectors and are based on common interests, and strengthening relations with neighbors, especially Arab countries, is a key priority in Iranian politics.

In a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Emir of Qatar said: "Qatar is determined to expand its relations with Iran on the basis of historical and deep-rooted interactions between the two nations in various fields."

During a meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Raisi described the relations between the two countries as very deep and stemming from the religious and heartfelt closeness of the two nations. There is a social relationship between the two nations, but this level of relations is not commensurate with the existing capacities in the two countries.
