Tehran (IP)- Negotiation with the US is not on the agenda of the Iranian delegation in Vienna, says Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).

Iran PressIran news: "Vienna Talks have been going on between Iran, P4+1 and the representative of EU, from the beginning and this path, will continue unchanged until a result is reached," the head of SNSC tweeted.

"Negotiation with US is not on the agenda of Iranian team because it will not be the source of any progress," the tweet reads.

The eighth round of talks on the removal of anti-Iranian sanctions resumed on Dec. 27 in the Austrian capital of Vienna. Representatives from China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain, and Iran negotiate in Vienna to bring the JCPOA on track. The United States has repeatedly called for direct and bilateral talks with Iran, but Iran has not yet responded.

Iran Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in response to US demand for Tehran-Washington direct negotiation, says that prospects for talks with the US are not clear and "There was no need for direct negotiations if we were not to achieve anything."
