Tabriz (IP) – An Iranian fighter jet crashed during a flight over Tabriz into a vacant school, killing the pilot, co-pilot, and the driver of a vehicle on Monday morning.

Iran PressIran news: Second Brigadier-General Pilot Reza Yusefi, Commander of Shahid Fakoori Air Base in Tabriz, stated about the crash: "Due to the technical problems in the fighter, the pilot prevented a major disaster by sacrificing his life and directing the plane to a deserted area."

He said the pilots flew the defective plane to an uninhabited area and therefore did not use the ejection seat.

Iran Press' footage shows that firefighters and rescue teams are extinguishing the fire, and people in the area gathered around the crash site. Some buildings were also damaged.
