Iran's SNSC secretary:

Tehran (IP)- The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council wrote on his Twitter account that a good agreement regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will not be achieved where there is a maximum pressure against Iran.

Iran PressIran News: "The agenda for the Iranian negotiators to continue the eighth round of Vienna talks has been carefully defined," the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani added.

"An agreement in which the sanctions that form the maximum pressure are not lifted will condition the country's economy and cannot be the basis of a good deal," the tweet read.

After weeks of intensive diplomatic consultations, the eighth round of Vienna talks to remove the unlawful anti-Iran sanctions, begun on December 27, 2021, entered a break on Friday, January 28, 2022, in order for political decisions to be made.

Given that the US has been a violator of the JCPOA, Iran has repeatedly stated that Washington must return to the agreement with lifting sanctions, and that the fulfillment of US obligations needs to be verified.

"Real, effective and verifiable economic benefit for Iran is a necessary condition for the formation of an agreement. Show of lifting sanctions is not considered constructive," Shamkhani also tweeted on Saturday,

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in a telephone conversation with EU Foreign Policy Chief Joseph Borrell on Saturday night that positive developments had taken place in the Vienna talks, but they still did not meet Iran's expectations.
