Iran Press/ Iran news: Joe Biden's administration on Friday restored sanctions waivers to Iran to allow international nuclear cooperation projects, as indirect American-Iranian talks on reviving the 2015 international nuclear deal with Tehran enter the final stretch.
In response to the US action, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday what was important for Iran was the actual behavior of the US in lifting the sanctions.
Amir-Abdollahian said: "Iran has received no preconditions from the US, and there is basically no question of preconditions, with the negotiations are going on based on expert points of view and an agreement that will result in the fulfillment of the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
He referred to the news about the US waiving sanctions on Iran's civilian nuclear program. He noted that what would be important for Iran was the result of the negotiations in Vienna and the agreement that would be reached there.
According to a senior official, the US State Department is waiving sanctions on Iran's civilian nuclear program in a technical step necessary to return to the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said on Saturday, "Real, effective and verifiable economic benefit for Iran is a necessary condition for the formation of an agreement. Show of lifting sanctions is not considered constructive."
On May 8, 2018, the US unilaterally left an internationally-signed nuclear agreement between the P5+1 countries (China, Russia, Germany, France, UK, and the US) in 2015, under which Iran would curb its nuclear program and the other side, the western party led by the US, would lift the sanctions it imposed on Iran.
