Tehran (IP) - Iran's minister of economy and finance says that the country's economy can benefit from the region's opportunities and its neighborhood policy much more than the current situation.

Iran PressIran News: Tehran hosts the first National Conference of Iran and Neighbors in presence of some Iranian ministers and top officials on Monday at two consecutive morning and evening sections at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS).

Since taking office in August, the new Iranian administration, under President Ebrahim Raisi, has constantly stressed that expansion of relations with neighbors and Asian countries is a top priority of its foreign policy.

Speaking at the First National Conference of Iran and Neighbors, Ehsan Khandouzi stated: "The initial focus is on using the opportunities of regionalism and neighborhood policy, which is evidenced in the first months of the 13th administration."

He noted that to take advantage of these economic opportunities, we must move towards less politicization of economic relations.

"The political positions of countries may fluctuate, but the foundations of economic interaction with the role-playing and acting of the private and non-governmental sectors and strong economic institutions with neighbors must be strong enough to be less affected by political fluctuations so that we can in any case establish the Iranian economy," he added.

He said: "Specifically in the field of performance of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as well as in foreign investment, we had serious measures on the agenda, which in the coming months will see the fruits of facilitating communication between economic actors in neighboring countries."

The minister of economy and finance further explained: "In the field of foreign investment incentives, we sent a new draft to the legal authorities, which proposed to fix issues such accommodation period, tax incentives, opening bank accounts, and all obstacles that would not allow economic actors in neighboring countries to efficiently work in Iran.
