Tehran (IP) - Christians celebrated the New Year 2022 in Targmantschatz Church in Tehran, the capital of Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Like anywhere in the world's churches, Christians of Tehran celebrated the New Year in Targmantschatz Church on Wednesday evening, performing the relevant rituals including lighting candles, chanting the Bible, praying, and respecting Jesus Christ and his mother Virgin Mary.

Christians are peacefully coexisting with other people in the Islamic Republic of Iran, performing their own rituals besides all mosques in the country.

Along with their Muslim compatriots in the 8-year Sacred Defense, Iranian Christians stood against the US-backed Ba'athist Iraqi regime of Saddam, where a number of them got martyred in defense of their country Iran.

Targmantschatz, meaning the Sacred Translators, is a name retrieved from Mesrop Mashtots who invented the Armenian alphabet.
