Tehran (IP) - Leaders of different religions emphasized the role of Martyr Lt. Gen. Soleimani in providing security in the region and trying to defend their rights.

Iran PressIran news: The conference marking the second anniversary martyrdom of the Iranian top military commander, entitled "General Soleimani; Defender of Freedom, Security and Peaceful Living of Religions," was held in Tehran on Monday, January 3, in the presence of Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and a group of leaders of different religions.

In addition to cultural and political figures of the Islamic Republic of Iran, leaders of monotheistic religions from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran spoke at the conference about the role of the top anti-terror commander in defending the rights of religions fighting extremism in the region.

General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) deputy head Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike authorized by former President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

They were highly popular because of their vital role in eliminating the ISIS  terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

Mehdi Imanipour, the head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, called Lt. Gen. Soleimani the focal point of the resistance and said: "Martyr Soleimani was not just a man who created epics. He also trained great characters."

Emphasizing that the "Haj Qasem school" will always be alive, he added: Martyr Soleimani has been and will be the most international figure of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Imanipour noted that General Soleimani had a significant impact on maintaining not only the security of Iran but also the security of the region and the world, and the perpetrators behind his assassination must be held accountable for this crime, and all freedom-seekers in the world are waiting for severe revenge against the United States.

Referring to the US withdrawal from the region, Imanipour said: "The most severe revenge against the perpetrators and murderers of Martyr Qassem Soleimani is the US cultural withdrawal from the region; Not just physical exit."

As another keynote speaker at the conference, Parliamentary Vice President Mohammad Hosseini said that wherever anyone from different religions needed help, Lt Gen Soleimani rushed to his aid.

He added that Martyr Soleimani always supported the oppressed at any time and place.

Referring to the services of Qassem Soleimani, the parliamentary vice president said: "Human rights defenders did not take any action against ISIS, but General Soleimani, accompanied by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, entered the battlefield alone, and the monotheistic religions acknowledge this."

"Many people from different religions were saved from terrorism by the courage of this martyr," he stressed.

In this conference, Sepuh Sargsyan, the archbishop of the Armenian Diocese of Tehran, said: "General Soleimani was cowardly martyred. Qassem Soleimani is a figure who spent his life defending the oppressed."

According to Sargsyan, the Armenian youth of Aleppo, Syria, mentioned the cowardly martyrdom of the top anti-terror general on their Facebook pages and condemned the cowardly act of the United States.

the archbishop of the Armenian Diocese of Tehran emphasized: "Although two years have passed since the martyrdom of General Soleimani, his memory is always in our hearts."

Also, the minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said at the ceremony that Martyr Soleimani showed the true face of global arrogance: "Many experts acknowledged that there was a conspiracy in the region in the form of religious wars that had no clear end. A clear example of that was a violent terrorist group like ISIS."

Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili added: "Meanwhile, General Soleimani entered the battlefield to foil this project and exposed the real face of the supporters of this project and neutralized their propaganda."
