Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan gas swap commences

The gas swap between Iran, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan has been officially started.

Iran PressAsia: The tripartite gas swap agreement from Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan through the Islamic Republic of Iran's territory was signed on November 28 on the sidelines of the ECO Summit in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, in the presence of the Presidents of the three countries.

According to the agreement, Iran will supply 1.5 to 2 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to the Republic of Azerbaijan annually.

Iran will swap Turkmenistan's gas to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in return, the Islamic Republic will take the gas it needs in 5 provinces.

Regarding the gas swap agreement details, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji stated: "According to the tripartite agreement, Iran annually delivers about 1.5 to 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan."
