Tehran (IP)- Former Iranian Foreign Minister said that he lost a friend two years ago, Iran lost a hero, and the world lost a counter-terrorism hero.

Iran PressIran news: In a tweet on Saturday and the occasion of the second martyrdom anniversary of Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote: "Two years ago, I lost a friend, Iran lost a hero, and the world lost a counter-terrorism hero."

A year later, for those who denied it, Zarif said that Trump's true face was displayed in the US Congress.

He pointed out: "The world needs brave fighters like Soleimani, not cowardly warlords like Trump, Netanyahu, and partners."

General Qassem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC elite Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the Second-in-Command of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, were martyred along with their 8 of their companions in the US strike on Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020.

They were prevalent because of their vital role in eliminating the ISIS  terrorist group, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

General Soleimani was in Baghdad on the official invitation of Iraq's Government.
