UN resumes flights to Sana'a airport

Yemen (IP) - The Yemeni National Salvation Government announced that after reconstruction of the damaged installation, the temporary resumption of the UN flights to the Sana'a International Airport.

Iran PressMiddle East: Yemen's National Aviation Organization announced that the flights of the UN and other international humanitarian bodies to Sana'a International Airport were resumed after reinstallation and reconstruction of communication and navigation of aviation systems of the airport were removed.

Sana'a International Airport has been closed since last week following the attacks by the Saudi coalition.

According to Khalid al-Sharif, Director-General of the Sana'a International Airport, the closure of the airport and lack of delivery of humanitarian aid led to the death of over 80,000 Yemenis.

Khalid al-Sharif said more than 450,000 patients still needed to be dispatched abroad for treatment.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the US and regional allies, including UAE, launched a war on Yemen in March 2015 to bring the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crush the Ansarullah movement.

Sana'a International Airport is under siege by the Saudi coalition, and only in some cases are international institutions allowed to use the airport.

Saudi Arabia does not even allow Yemeni patients to leave Yemen for treatment through Sana'a International Airport. While attacking the airport, the aggressor coalition prevents humanitarian aid from reaching the Yemeni people.
