Iran Press/ Iran news: The ship will stay in Bandar Abbas for three days as part of a goodwill visit to further bilateral relations between both countries.
Iran and India's relationship is centuries old. There is a great deal of commonality in their language, culture, and traditions. Contemporary relation is characterized by inter alia in the fields of commerce, energy, infrastructure, and education. Traditional close relations have also been further strengthened by regular cultural exchanges, commercial interactions as well as bilateral meetings, and high-profile visits between both countries. Maritime security cooperation is an important area of cooperation between the two countries.
A delegation from the 1st Naval Region of the Iranian Navy and the Naval Attaché of the Indian Embassy received the ship in Bandar Abbas.
The commander and a number of the crew of the Indian ship met with Captain Ghader Vazifeh, the deputy commander of the 1st Naval Region of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this meeting, Captain Ghader Vazifeh, while expressing satisfaction with the visit of the Indian Navy delegation, called it a sign of friendly relations between Iran and India.
He added: "Iranian-Indian naval relations have been established for many years and we hope that in the future these friendly relations will expand even more."
The commander of the Indian navy ship, for his part, thanked the Iranian commanders for their hospitality, calling the visit a sign of the long-standing friendship of the Indian and Iranian navies.
He added: "The Indian Navy wants to strengthen friendly relations with Iran, and our visit reflects our longstanding friendly relations."
"Sudarshini is currently in its peak phase of deployment to the Gulf region as part of efforts by the Indian Navy to familiarize friendly foreign Marines with various facets of operations and training aboard sailing training platforms and to build bridges of friendship," the Indian Navy said in a statement.
Captain Hamza, head of training in the Iranian Navy, visited the ship with a team of his officers, the statement added.
"They (officers) were given a detailed overview of the functioning and characteristics of the ship during port training for the cadets of the Iranian Navy," the statement said.
