Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman expressed satisfaction with the successful exchange of abductees and detainees on the eastern countryside of Aleppo called for the continuation of such a humanitarian act.

Iran PressIran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Sunday regarding the prisoners swap in Syria: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the three guarantor countries in the Astana process, while expressing satisfaction with the recent successful operation to exchange abductees and detainees at the Abu al-Zindeen crossing on the eastern country side of Aleppo, stresses the need to continue this humanitarian action."

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: "This operation was carried out on Friday, December 17 under the supervision of Iran and Russia and by the Syrian Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross, during which a total of 10 people were released from the Syrian side and the opposition groups."

Khatibzadeh also stressed: "The Islamic Republic of Iran wants to make more efforts toward the coordination and facilitation to carry out more exchange programs in the future."

He concluded: "We are working to increase the number of joint operations by cooperating with the guarantors of the Astana process, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Syrian Red Crescent and the Syrian parties, and expanding confidence-building measures to facilitate this important task."
