The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees commended Iran for its generous hospitality towards Afghan refugees.

Iran Press/Iran news: Heading a delegation, Filippo Grandi visited a temporary refugee camp being built in the city of Zabul in Sistan-Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran.

Grandi emphasized UNHCR’s commitment to dealing with the situation of the displaced people, including in Afghanistan, saying, "The relevant international institutions in the affairs of refugees support Iran."

"The United Nations will work with the government of the Islamic Republic on refugee issues," he said.

He said $ 11 million had been earmarked for the construction of a site on Niatek, more than half of which had been approved by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Grandi stated: "In this site, in addition to housing these people, issues such as health, education, and livelihood of these people are to be considered."

He added: "Iran's generous cooperation in granting asylum to the oppressed people of Afghanistan is commendable."

"The issues and problems of different countries are monitored by the United Nations," he said. "The United Nations is also working to restore stability in Afghanistan."
