Raisi emphasises formation of Iran-Hungary joint commission

Tehran (IP) - Iran's President stresses the formation of a joint commission with Hungary in order to expand economic and political interactions.

Iran PressIran news: Receiving Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Thursday, Ebrahim Raisi said relations between Iran and Hungary were not acceptable and efforts must be made to bring the relations to an acceptable level through bilateral cooperation.

Raisi touched on the immigration crisis in Europe, particularly the immigration of the Afghan people, and said: "Two decades of NATO and US presence in Afghanistan brought murder, crime, bloodshed, and helplessness for the Afghan people, and more than 30,000 Afghan children have been disabled as a result of the American presence in Afghanistan." 

Elsewhere, he highlighted Iran's endeavor in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crimes and considered the cooperation of the two countries in this regard beneficial, both regionally and internationally. 

He said the Islamic Republic combatted terrorism in practice while some countries did so just on paper.

The Hungarian foreign minister for his part said: "We believe that the West and NATO acted hypocritically about the Afghanistan's issue, and now we are concerned about the huge influx of Afghan migrants."

Peter Szijjarto expressed satisfaction with the trade ties between Iran and Hungary and said his country would try to improve Tehran-Budapest relations. 

The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade arrived in Tehran today, Thursday.

Three memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Iran and Hungary were signed in Tehran in the presence of the two countries' foreign ministers.
