Tehran (IP) - Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian said the country seeks to synchronize the electricity grid to Russia through the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Iran PressIran news:  In a video conference with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov, Iran's Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian expressed his readiness to hold a trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

"Iran welcomes the idea of ​​buying electricity in the summer and storing it for the cold months." he said.

Emphasizing the importance of installing turbines next to the two joint dams of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Iranian minister said: "With the operation of the project, a significant amount of electricity will be produced and revenue will be generated for both countries."

Mehrabian added: "Iran is one of the countries that has the ability to build power plants, and power turbines with efficiencies above 60% to export to other countries, including Russia."

The Minister of Energy announced Iran's readiness to build a joint power plant with the Republic of Azerbaijan and called for continued cooperation to complete the two dams through a joint technical commission.

He added: "Iran wants to synchronize its electricity gird with neighboring countries in accordance with international standards to expand electricity exchanges and exports."
