Iran,Turkey confer on enhancing border cooperation

Istanbul (IP) - A joint meeting of Iranian and Turkish water officials was held in order to improve border cooperation and reduce water problems.

Iran PressAsia: Houshang Gholami, the head of the Border Rivers and Common Water Resources Department of the Northwest of the Iranian Ministry of Energy, said about the meeting:

"In this meeting, the demands of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the problems that occurred on the border of the two countries, which caused floods and damage to Iran, were followed up."

Gholami added: "These damages are more concentrated in Maku region towards Cheshmeh Soraya and Boralan, and thanks to cooperative measures of Turkey, these damages were collected and minimized last year."

Before the meeting, delegations from Tehran and Ankara visited the Iranian-Turkish border.
