Iranian powerlifter Hamed Solhipour triumphed with the gold medal by controlling 225 kg on day seven of the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi (Saturday 4 December).

Iran PressMiddle East: Paralympic silver medallist, Seyedhamed Solhipour of Iran, was determined to move up the podium in the 97kg weight class.

With an impressive drive for 225kg, Solhipour retained his crown to win back-to-back titles. 

“I’m very happy and delighted”, said Solhipour. “and I think I deserve this medal.”

On Friday, Iran’s Rouhollah Rostami took a silver medal in the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships.

Rostami comfortably won the Paralympic gold lifting 225kg, 228kg, and 234kg before the unsuccessful 'power lift' attempt to break his world record (241kg). He set the world record at the Bangkok 2021 World Cup in May.
