Tehran(IP) - The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran called the Arab countries' request for Syria's re-membership in the Arab League a sign of the failure to destabilize and change efforts the Syrian political system.

Iran PressIran News:  Abolfazl Amoui said about Syria's return to the Arab League: "Syria is a country with a long history and importance in the Arab world, and its removal from the Arab League was a political move."

He also added: "Now that the Syrian government has proven its ability to survive and has achieved a stable position inside its country, it must return to its true position."

Amoui stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the legitimate government of Syria, and the attempt to eliminate this country is fruitless and illegal.

The decision of the foreign ministers of the Arab countries to suspend Syria's membership in the union was taken on November 12, 2011, at the emergency meeting in Cairo.
