Kabul (IP) - Iran's special envoy to Afghanistan held a meeting with former Afghan President and discussed cementing bilateral ties.

Iran PressAsia: During the meeting, which was also attended by Iran's Ambassador to Afghanistan, Bahador Aminian, Hassan Kazemi-Ghomi and Hamid Karzai exchanged thoughts on good neighborliness between the two brotherly and neighboring countries of Iran and Afghanistan.  

Karzai, in turn, appreciated Iran's assistance and cooperation with Afghanistan and urged the necessity of continuation of this approach.

Kazemi-Ghomi, who arrived in Kabul on Monday on a three-day visit heading a political, security and economic delegation, met with senior Taliban officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Baradar and Second Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi. Kazemi-Ghomi and Amir Khan Mottaqi, the acting Taliban Foreign Minister met separately to discuss political, security and economic issues.

He also met with members of the Council of Shia Ulema of Afghanistan and delivered a speech at the inauguration of Iran-Afghanistan Joint Cooperation Committee during his visit to Kabul.
