The House select committee investigating the 6 January insurrection at the US Capitol issued further subpoenas on Tuesday to 10 Trump administration officials.

Iran Press/America:  The US congressional committee probing the deadly Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol said on Tuesday it had issued subpoenas seeking documents and testimony from more associates of former President Donald Trump, including senior adviser Stephen Miller and former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

According to US media, House investigators targeted 10 senior Trump White House aides on Tuesday, most notably Miller, McEnany, former vice-president Mike Pence’s national security adviser Keith Kellogg and the then White House personnel director John McEntee.

The subpoenas demanding documents and testimony are focused squarely on activities surrounding the White House and come a day after the select committee subpoenaed other top Trump lieutenants who aimed to undercut the results of the 2020 election while working from the Willard hotel in Washington.

The panel has now issued at least 35 subpoenas and received testimony from more than 150 witnesses. It had announced six for Trump associates including top aides from the Republican’s failed 2020 re-election campaign – on Monday.

More than 670 people have been charged with taking part in the riot at the Capitol. It was the worst attack on the seat of the US government since the War of 1812 and the only time power in the United States has not been transferred peacefully. 219
