A number of buildings were evacuated at Yale University on Friday afternoon due to bomb threats.

Iran PressAmerica: Multiple bomb threats at Yale University prompted a massive police response in downtown New Haven early Friday afternoon. People are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

New Haven police received a call to its non-emergency number around 1:50 p.m. Friday afternoon stating that bombs were placed in several buildings on the university's campus.

The alert to the university community was sent out around 2:30 p.m., officials said.

Residents of New Haven are urged to stay clear of downtown until further notice, city officials said. Mayor Justin Elicker said roads would be closed for at least two or three hours.
