Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister says relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan continue in a positive neighborhood channel.

Iran PressIran News: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Thursday that there might be differences of opinion on some issues, but there was a serious will on both sides to overcome the obstacles.

Amir Abdullahian noted that he would continue contacts and consultations with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov to develop relations and overcome misunderstandings.

"It has been agreed to establish a joint committee between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan for better management of the public and media space," he added.

The President of Azerbaijan's Republic Ilham Aliyev recently claimed that Armenia and Iran had been using the Nagorno-Karabakh to smuggle drugs into Europe for about 30 years.

The Office of the Attorney General of Armenia has denied the allegations, citing figures on joint Tehran-Yerevan plans to combat drug trafficking.

Armenia says while a total of 157 kilograms of narcotics were discovered at the borders between 2017 and 2020, the figure has risen to 451 kilograms only in 2021.
