Tehran (IP) - Shahid Nazeri vessel was delivered to the Navy of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in 2016 to achieve vessels with a long operating range.

Iran PressIran news: Shahid Nazeri vessel can be considered a turning point in the history of the IRGC navy because, before its operation, the IRGC was not present in open waters and was only in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Overview

This vessel is designed, built, equipped, and launched without any foreign dependence. Shahid Nazeri vessel operates in the role of patrol and reconnaissance, and due to being equipped with a helicopter platform, can also observe remote areas by using a helicopter.

Features

The use of new two-hull and three-hull designs in naval vessels and their combination with designs in accordance with the principles of radar concealment of vessels in recent years has been observed in various products around the world.

These new vessels have been used in the role of patrol, transportation, and transport of forces and equipment, as well as rocket launchers.

In the design of the Shahid Nazeri vessel, two hulls have been considered. This method is called SWATH = Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull, which makes the float have good stability and does not overturn at high speeds.

The use of a two-hull or catamaran design has superior features over single-hull vessels. Among other things, Shahid Nazeri float has the lowest impact in the waves with high speed and due to very little contact with the water surface, very little pressure is applied to its engines.

Specification

Shahid Nazeri vessel is 55 meters long, 14 meters wide, 1.5 meters deep, weighs 240 tons, and has a speed equivalent to 27 knots. It has a light aluminum hull and is able to withstand waves up to 6 meters high.

The hull of this twin-engine vessel, which also has two independent shafts and propellers, is made of marine aluminum alloy, which has led to its weight reduction.

Due to the use of a two-hull design, Shahid Nazeri vessel has less water intake and has the ability to maintain more stability in motion. The two-hull design of this vessel has a different feature from conventional catamaran vessels, and that is that the middle part of the hull is far from the water, so this vessel has a better possibility of crossing the rough sea.

Catamaran vessels are able to move in shallower waters than other vessels. In this regard, this vessel has a unique body of the "Incat" type, which is dry in the middle of this body and has no contact with water, and even a vessel can pass through it. This floating capability of Shahid Nazeri enables the IRGC naval units to move at high speed in areas very close to the coast and to shoot from almost anywhere.

The existence of many natural and artificial tolls and islands in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a kind of natural cover that fast vessels can maneuver under their shelter and make surprise shots at the enemy.

Shahid Nazeri vessel operational range is up to 10 thousand kilometers. This vessel has the ability to sail on roaring waves.

Shahid Nazeri vessels are capable of carrying 100 passengers with 5 crew members and is capable of sailing in rough seas to a greater extent than "Qadr" class rocket launchers.

The vessel has a deck for light helicopters to land and take off, and can also be equipped with a torpedo under its cabin.

Surface search radar and some other detection systems have been used on Shahid Nazeri vessels and a 20 mm three-barrel rotating cannon with remote control has been installed in front of this vessel in recent years.
