Tehran (IP) - Secretary-General of Lebanon's Hezbollah Movement says the realization of unity among Muslims and an inclusive pace must be set as the goals of the Muslim Ummah.

Iran Press/Iran news:  Addressing the opening ceremony of the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference via video, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah hailed the role of the Islamic Unity Conference in coping with the challenges of the Muslim world. 

Nasrallah said: "The world of Islam has faced numerous challenges since long and the global arrogant powers led by the US have targeted Muslims though efforts have been made in line with boosting Islamic proximity after the Islamic Revolution."

He stressed that solidarity and independence beyond ethnicity were the holy things the Muslim Ummah were in dire need of.

Hezbollah leader called for innovative views and the formation of a committee to coordinate holding frequent meetings in Tehran so that the scholars could exchange experiences.

World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has scheduled the 35th edition of the Islamic Unity Conference for October 19-24 ending with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), also known as the Islamic Unity Week.  

Over 500 Muslim scholars, intellectuals, and religious figures attend the 35th edition of the Islamic Unity Conference, held virtually due to COVID-19 circumstances. World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has decided to hold the 35th event on the theme of "Islamic Unity, Peace, and Avoidance of Division and Conflict in the World of Islam."
