Iranian navy thwarts pirate attack

Tehran (IP) - The Commander of the Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced the foil of a pirate attack on an Iranian tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

Iran PressIran news: Admiral Shahram Irani, Commander of Iran's Navy, said: "The Alborz destroyer was escorting two tankers today (Saturday) in the area of ​​the Gulf of Aden, and five pirate boats were trying to approach the tankers."

The commander of the navy added: "The navy of the army, using the commando teams, succeeded in directing the boats to a farther area by carrying out operations and firing."

Shahram Irani said: "Due to the performance of the Iranian Navy today, all vessels passing through the region, whether domestic or regional and trans-regional vessels are in complete safety."

The commander of the navy emphasized: "We will deal seriously with any threat that wants to strain the transportation axis."
