Tehran (IP) - The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council advised the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to beware of costly devil traps, saying those who tarnish the reputation of the globally recognized hero of the fight against narcotics just discredit themselves.

Iran PressIran news: The President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev claimed today at a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit that Iran and Armenia used the Karabakh region to smuggle narcotics to Europe for 30 years.

In response to the comments, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani wrote in a tweet on Friday: "Ignoring the neighborhood principles & making false statements can't be a sign of a tact."

Admiral Shamkhani warned the Azerbaijani president over the costly traps of devilish enemies. 

Meanwhile, the Spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saeed Khatibzadeh also reacted to Aliyev's allegations: "Such accusations are only in the interests of the Zionist regime to affect the brotherly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan."
