The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon are of multifaceted importance. One of the characteristics of these relations is its strategic effects on strengthening the resistance against the aggression of the Israeli regime.

Iran has always supported the resistance against the occupying Israeli regime and has defended the independence, security, and stability of Lebanon in crucial and sensitive circumstances, and has proved this ability in various areas and stages.

The US and Israel are the real enemies of Lebanon

The supply of electricity to the people and vital sectors, especially the hospitals and the water and sewage system in the shadow of the coronavirus outbreak, became a serious problem and provoked protests in various parts of Lebanon. The Lebanese now know that their real enemy is the US which supports Israel and is behind the siege of Lebanon and the sedition in this country.

Najat Rushdi, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for the United Nations in Lebanon warned that fuel shortages were threatening thousands of families in the country.

Reza Mohtashamipour, an expert on international economics about the importance of Iran's role in helping Lebanon overcome this economic-political challenge says that Iran's interests are defined in terms of stabilizing the region, while the United States' interests are defined in creating a crisis in the region and preventing economic stability in the countries.

Iran exports petroleum products to Syria and Lebanon

Preventing the escalation of the crisis in Lebanon is defined politically and economically in the puzzle of Iran's interests. Meanwhile, the export of petroleum products to this country was another sign of the failure of US sanctions against Iran. Washington already has the experience of Iranian petroleum products being exported to Syria and Venezuela.

Shortly after the announcement of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, about the movement of Iranian fuel ships to help Lebanon, the United States and France, and consequently Saudi Arabia, were forced to give the green light to form a new Lebanese government after 16 months of obstruction.

Arriving in Beirut, the Iranian foreign minister congratulated the formation of a new government in the country and stated that Tehran would never hesitate to help Lebanon if requested. Amir-Abdollahian considered the formation of the Lebanese government as an important step to overcome the problems and fulfill the aspirations of the resilient Lebanese nation and added that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes in peace and stability in Lebanon through democracy and in the shadow of internal harmony and cohesion and away from foreign interference.

The successive defeats of the Israeli regime since the victory of Lebanon in 2000 and the victory in the 33 Day War in 2006 and in the battle of the "Sword of Quds" to the "Tunnel of Freedom" are signs of the undeniable fact that the Lebanese people have gained brilliant achievement in the face of terrorism, American occupation, and sanctions. In this process, the Islamic Republic of Iran will always stand by the Lebanese people and government. As the Iranian Foreign Minister stated upon his arrival in Beirut, Iran is ready to develop comprehensive relations with Lebanon as in the past.
