5 October was proclaimed as World Teachers' Day by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994.
The day, outlines the standards relating to education personnel policy, training, working conditions, and recruitment policy of teachers.
The idea of celebrating Teachers' Day first started back in the 19th century. In many countries, a prominent educator or an important milestone in education is celebrated on the day.
That's the reason why the date is not the same for all countries. China celebrates it on 10 September, Iraq on 1 March, Malaysia on 16 May, Singapore on the first Friday of September, and Spain on 27 November.
