Iran's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna criticized the dual approach taken by the US-British governments to sell a military submarine with more than 90% nuclear fuel to Australia.

Iran PressEurope: Countries who blame Iran, politically for enriching uranium up to 60%, which is for humanitarian and peaceful purposes, now closed their eyes and decided to sell nuclear-powered submarines to Australia using above 90% HEU fuel, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to the UN, Vienna, Kazem Gharibabadi said.

"Iran has been consistent in stating that every member of the Agency has the right to pursue its peaceful nuclear program, regardless of the level of enrichment, based on exclusively its needs and in accordance with the Agency's Safeguards," Gharibabadi said in his tweet.

For Australia, reaching safeguards arrangement with the Agency is of the essence. The Agency should have access to the HEU there at an agreed and reasonable time, and no excuse is accepted in this regard. The Agency should keep the IAEA board of governors informed on this important issue regularly, the Iranian diplomat said.

"The US and UK should stop such a vulgar facade of double standard and hypocrisy as well as avoiding to compromise their obligations regarding the Article III of the NPT under the pretext of the fabricated so-called "strategic concerns," the ambassador noted. 219
