Ministries should activate capacities to cooperate with SCO: Raisi

Tehran (IP) – Iran's President considered expanding comprehensive relations with neighboring countries and the region as a priority in the country's foreign policy.

Iran PressIran news: Attending the cabinet meeting on Sunday, Ebrahim Raisi referred to the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and stated: "Given the great potential that Iran has gained through its membership in SCO, all ministries should identify the capacities and use them for the country's economic growth."

"SCO members know the ground to cooperate with Iran more than ever and feel that they can have better and more cooperation with Iran. In their speeches, they emphasized strengthening and deepening ties with Tehran," he noted.

He underlined the need to speed up the activation of Chabahar port and said: "Chabahar is a gateway for communication with Asian countries and the world, so acceleration in its development and operation is crucial."

"The government's foreign policy is to strengthen relations with neighboring countries with the priority of economic diplomacy, and we will staunchly pursue the policy, and there are no obstacles to implement it," he concluded. 

The Islamic Republic of Iran became a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Friday (September 17th) in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, changed its position from observer to permanent member.
