Tehran (IP) - The secretary-General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) met with Iraq's Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi.

Iran PressIran news: In the meeting held on Sunday, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkani welcomed Iraq's Baghdad Summit initiative and said: "Focusing on joint efforts and convergence of countries in the region without the presence of foreign countries must be on the permanent agenda of the countries in the region."

Iran's Admiral Shamkhani dubbed the terrorists' movements in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region as disruptive to the two countries' security and stressed the immediate disarmament of the terrorist and their expulsion from the Iraqi soil. 

He also pointed to the normalizing of relations of some regional countries with the Israeli regime and said that such moves were carried out within the new U.S. national security strategy framework, which would only escalate tensions in the region. 

The Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, for his part, highlighted the significant role of the Islamic Republic in the fight against terrorism, especially ISIS, and said the Iraqi nation and government would never forget Iran's help to his country in its rainy days. 

Mustafa al-Kazemi stressed the cooperation of the two countries' security entities as complimentary and facilitative to Iran-Iraq ties and pointed out: "Iraq is ready to use its political and security capacities to get closer to the countries of the region and to resolve misunderstandings that are detrimental to stability."
