Iran's share of petrochemicals trade in Western Asia increases

Tehran (IP) - Planning and Development Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) reported the growth of Iran's share in the trade of petrochemical products in West Asia.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hassan Abbaszadeh said that the share of Iran in selling petrochemical products in Western Asia was 20.2 percent in 2019 and reached 22.01 percent in 2021, which showed a 2% increase.

Abbaszadeh said Iran's share of the world's petrochemical production capacity was also increasing, while most countries were working to improve their capacity, adding that Iran's share in the world petrochemical trade reached 5.9 percent. 

He emphasized that Iran currently had the capacity to produce 30 million tons of base petrochemical products.

According to the Planning and Development Director of NPC, over the next five years, the production of basic petrochemical products in Iran would reach 57 million tons per year, which would rank Iran first in West Asia.
