Tehran (IP) – Head of Iran's Pasteur Institute said the Iran-Cuba COVID vaccine (PasteuCoVac) had successfully passed the clinical trial for vaccinating children.

Iran PressIran News: Noting that PasteuCoVac is one of the safest vaccines available for children, Alireza Biglari stated on Wednesday: "The study of the Soberana 2 vaccine on children was done in Cuba and obtained the emergency use permission; if the Iranian Health Ministry wants to vaccine the children, it can use this vaccine."

The study results showed that the vaccine should be injected for adults with a booster dose; but for children, a third dose is not needed, and 2 doses are enough to achieve the desired safety, he pointed.

The joint COVID vaccine of Iran's Pasteur Institute and the Cuban Finlay Institute has been named "PasteuCoVac" in Iran and "Soberana 2" in Cuba.

The third phase of the vaccine study began on August 28 in eight cities in Cuba with 24,000 volunteers.
