Tehran (IP) - The technical deputy of Iran's customs announced the arrival of 1,449,600 doses of the corona vaccine in the country.

Iran PressIran news: Mehrdad Jamal-Arunaghi, Technical Deputy Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), said: "The forty-second shipment of imported Corona vaccine arrived in the country on Thursday.

The technical deputy of IRICA added: This consignment includes 1,449,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the COVAX basket, the customs formalities of which were carried out immediately on the flight and were provided to the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education.

Arunaghi also said: With the arrival of this shipment of imported vaccines, the number of imported corona vaccines reached 30 million 349 thousand 210 doses.

The technical deputy of Iran's customs pointed out: "The largest shipment of imported Corona vaccine so far will enter the country in the next 24 hours."

COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access) is a mechanism jointly managed by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), and the World Health Organization (WHO), in which the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) plays a key role. It is responsible for sending the vaccine.

These vaccines are the third shipment of COVAX sent to Iran. The next shipments of the share of vaccines allocated to Iran in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and through the UNICEF delivery channel will soon enter the country.
