Iran Meteorological Organization wins 11th int'l seat

Tehran (IP) - The Meteorological Organization of Iran won the 11th international seat in the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Iran PressIran news: The 17th meeting of the World Meteorological Organization's Asia Second Regional Management Group was attended by members of the group (Islamic Republic of Iran, UAE, Vietnam, China, India, Japan, and Korea), representatives of the WMO in Geneva, and the Singapore Regional Office were held on Tuesday. 

The meeting was chaired by the Emirati Director of Asia Region 2, Sahar Tajbakhsh, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Head of the Meteorological Organization, who presented a detailed report on the new structure of Asia Region 2, instructions for reforming the structure and future vision of the region.

The operational projects proposed by the members, the development of a regional partnership strategy, a pilot project in the field of intelligent meteorological services, as well as the appointment of the director of hydrology and the deputies of the special work teams of Asia Region 2 were other topics discussed at the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, at Tajbakhsh's suggestion, the chair of the Special Working Group on Regional Participation was assigned to Ahad Vazifeh, the director of the National Center for Drought and Crisis Management.
