Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on the first day of his career, received his Pakistani counterpart on Thursday.

Iran PressIran news: Amir-Abdollahian and Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations in the political and economic fields.

The two sides discussed the positive steps taken in recent months to develop economic relations between the two countries, in particular the establishment of two new border crossings and the holding of a joint economic commission and a joint trade committee of the two countries in the near future.

Earlier on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian underscored, "Our focus at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be more on neighboring countries and Asian-centric politics, but that does not mean we will ignore other parts of the world."

He made the remarks to reporters yesterday after taking office at the Foreign Ministry.
