Iranian diplomats safe in consulate in Herat: FM Assistance

Afghanistan (IP) - Assistant to Foreign Minister and Director General of West Asia at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Iranian diplomats at the Consulate General in Herat were regularly in contact with the Ministry.

Iran PressIran News: In a Friday tweet, Rasoul Mousavi said the security forces that are responsible to control the city of Herat were committed to fully protect the consulate and its staff. 

He pointed to the fact that the Taliban took the control of Herat, Mousavi wrote: "The Consulate General, as well as the diplomats and staff of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran are inside the building and we are in constant contact with them."

The Afghan city of Herat was captured by Taliban forces on Wednesday.
