Milak border crossing between Iran, Afghanistan reopens

Sistan-Baluchestan (IP)- The spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said that the Milak border crossing between Iran and Afghanistan would be reopened on Wednesday.

Iran Press/Iran News: "The reopening of the Milak border is currently for trucks stopped at the border. We hope that from Saturday, customs managers and traders will be able to send new shipments to this border for export to Afghanistan in coordination with Milak Customs," Ruhollah Latifi stated.

Milak is a village in Jahanabad Rural District, in the central district of Afghanistan's Hirmand County, Sistan-Baluchestan Province.

Latifi also said: "The traffic of trucks in the borders of Dogarun in Khorasan Razavi Province (northeast of Iran) and Mahirud in South Khorasan Province (east of Iran) to Afghanistan continues, and the news of a complete cessation of trade with this country is basically untrue."

Iran's Customs spokesman added: "Trade at the Mahirud border has grown by 50 percent, and more than 500 trucks deliver their cargo to Afghan trucks on a daily basis."

He added: "At the Dogarun border, about 250 trucks are transporting their commercial cargo to Afghan trucks and traders, and the news of a complete cessation of trade with Afghanistan is rejected."

As of Friday, due to the developments in Afghanistan, the Milak border has been closed.
