Tehran (IP) - The head of the Network Management Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran said that six Iranian cities were registered in the Healthy Cities Network of the World Health Organization.

Iran PressIran news: Jafar Sadegh Tabrizi said: "Of these 6 cities, 3 are Sahand, Jolfa and Maragheh in East Azerbaijan province, Ardakan in Yazd province, Kashan in Isfahan province and Germi in Ardabil province."

A Healthy City should meet at least 80 percent of the 80 indicators in 9 areas recognized by WHO, ranging from socio-economic measures, governance, and increasing potentials to institutional transformation and cooperation based on planning and implementing innovative projects. 

Sahand, a new town in the northwestern East Azarbaijan Province, has been awarded the first healthy city in Iran under the World Health Organization’s Healthy Cities Program.
