Tehran (IP)- The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saeed Khatibzadeh, called the security of the Persian Gulf a red line for the Islamic Republic of Iran and said: "We did our best to protect this waterway from the insecurities orchestrated by countries like Britain."

Iran PressIran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh explained the latest developments in foreign policy and answered reporters' questions on Monday at the weekly meeting with the press.

The spokesman for the diplomatic apparatus stated: "Following the baseless accusations of some countries about the ship incident in the Oman Sea, we summoned the British and the Romanian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry and expressed our protest."

The senior Iranian diplomat noted the presence of foreign officials at the inauguration of President Raisi and the meeting of several foreign ministers and officials with Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Khatibzadeh, in response to a question about allegations made by some European and British officials about the ship incident in the Oman Sea, said: "These statements by the British Foreign Secretary against the Iranian nation are not new statements and a chain of irresponsible statements by officials in this country in recent years."

Security of the Persian Gulf is a red line for Iran.

He said: "Iran is concerned about the obvious violation that Britain did against the Iranian oil tanker in international waters. My strong advice to the British government is to pay attention to its responsibilities and duties. The security of the Persian Gulf is a red line for Iran, and we did our best to protect this waterway from the insecurities orchestrated by the countries like Britain."

Khatibzadeh stated: "The fact that Britain has sided with the rebellious and notorious Zionist regime shows the position of this country."

He expressed his condolences to the families of the two victims of the attack from Britain and Romania and expressed his condolences to them.

Development in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman also spoke about the developments in Afghanistan and the arrival of many Afghan nationals in Iran: "Iran has hosted its Afghan brothers and sisters for the past four decades and has never had anything but kindship with the Afghan people."

The official condemned the statement by the Group of Seven and said everyone must pay attention. At the same time, they kept silent for months about the aggression of the Zionist regime and its piracy of the regime and the state terrorism and sabotage against the merchant ships frequently; they should not take such irresponsible positions.

New administration of Iran continues JCPOA talks

Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that what was important in the JCPOA talks was that Iran never left the negotiations, and it was just in a power transition state. 

He pointed out that the new president of Iran stressed in his speeches at the endorsement and swearing-in ceremonies that the people's rights would be defended to lift the cruel sanctions on Iran.   

British governments behave in a way that shows their dishonesty

Elsewhere in the conference, the MFA spokesman pointed to the UK's debts to Iran and said: "The British governments not only did not pay their debts under whimsical pretexts, but also behaved in a way that showed their dishonesty in paying these debts."

He said Iran had always put on its agenda the UK's debts. 

Iran hopes humanitarian siege in Yemen end under new UN envoy

Still, he referred to the Yemeni issue and said Iran hoped the action would be taken to end the humanitarian siege in Yemen under the new UN Secretary-General's new envoy.

"Unfortunately the Saudi government, after spending a long time for a military solution, has realized that the war will only result in harming the nations of the region and the regional security," the Iranian top diplomat said, recommending the Saudis to show their adherence to solutions for the peace and security of the region.
