Tehran (IP) - President Ebrahim Raisi stressed the need to further activate all capacities for boosting Iran's bilateral ties and cooperation with the African continent.

Iran PressIran News: Raisi made the remarks on Friday in a meeting with the speaker of the National Assembly of Guinea-Bissau Cipriano Cassamá who is here to participate in Raisi's inauguration as Iran's new president which was held Thursday.

Raisi further emphasized the priority of developing relations with the African continent in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying in his government, all capacities will be used seriously to cooperate with African countries.

Pointing to the valuable material and manpower capacity African countries have, He said: "Tehran is willing to pursue a policy of developing comprehensive relations with African countries including Guinea-Bissau to serve the mutual interest."

Raisi pointed out that the West mainly seeks to exploit the resources and reserves of the African continent, and in return not only does not contribute to the development and welfare of its people but instead pursues the policy of backwardness of African countries.

President Raisi emphasized, "Iran is a friend of the African continent."

Cipriano Cassamá said his country as well as other African countries supports such approaches, and we welcome the views expressed.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Guinea-Bissau emphasized his country's commitment to developing relations with Iran and believed that sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran must be lifted and it is not possible to continue.
