Tehran (IP) - Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches special importance and position to establishing extensive relations with India, Iran's President said: "From today, we must take new and distinct steps in the development of bilateral, regional and international relations with a new perspective."

Iran PressIran news: Ebrahim Raisi on Friday during a meeting with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, said that the Iranian administration would vigorously pursue a policy of developing relations with neighboring countries and the region, especially India, noting: "There are great capacities in the two countries in different sectors, especially in the fields of economy, trade and new technologies, which we must use to strengthen the level of our relations."

Raisi, emphasizing the need for a joint program to increase the level of Tehran-New Delhi relations, said: "By moving in the direction of a joint cooperation program, we can remove different conditions at the level of relations between the two countries in the interests of the two nations."

He stressed the importance of close cooperation and coordination between the two countries in peace and stability in the region. He said: "Iran and India can play a constructive and useful role in ensuring security in the region, especially Afghanistan, and Tehran welcomes the role of New Delhi in creating Security in Afghanistan."

"The fate of Afghanistan must be decided by the Afghans themselves, and we believe that if the Americans do not incite sedition in this regard, this issue will be resolved quickly," he said.

Welcoming Raisi's speech at the inauguration ceremony regarding the Iranian government's will to develop relations with neighboring countries, the Minister of External Affairs of India said: "I share your views with the President and Prime Minister of India and we will try to increase our cooperation to the highest level."

He noted: "The current level of relations is not favorable and we are determined to establish long-term cooperation in the interests of our nations, given the serious will of the Iranian side."
