Tehran (IP) - Iranian Olympic medalist in shooting says he strives to bag more gold medals in the future.

Iran PressIran news: Upon his arrival to Tehran from Tokyo, Javad Forughi said that the performance of Iran's air pistol team at the World Cup competitions in India, Croatia, and European Championships raised expectations.

Highlighting that he would never think about earning the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics, Foroughi noted: "I went to get the best possible result and finally made history with a golden shot."

The 41-year old Forughi pointed out that the expectations of Iranian people from the shooting team were reasonable, so he would do the best of his ability to get brilliant results at the next international tournaments.

Javad Foroughi became the oldest and newest Iranian athlete to win an Olympic medal, earning gold in the men's 10-meter air pistol event.

Foroughi set an Olympic record with 244.8 points, finishing 6.9 points ahead of the silver medalist Damir Mikec from Serbia. China's Pang Wei, the 2008 gold medalist, snatched bronze.
