Hundreds of Palestinians took part in an anti-settlement and eviction demonstration in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in occupied eastern Jerusalem al Quds.

Iran PressMiddle East: The demonstrators, including Arab Israeli MKs, gathered in Sheikh Jarrah and chanted against the Zionist settlements and the forced evictions of Palestinian families.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli occupation forces stormed the area and violently dispersed the demonstration, noting that the Israeli troops confiscated Palestinian flags raised by the protesters.

For three months, Israel has prevented Palestinians and foreign activists from reaching Sheikh Jarrah to show solidarity with its Palestinian families threatened with eviction.

Israeli occupation forces have cracked down on any activism organized there and on journalists covering the events. They have also prevented access for paramedics to treat those attacked by Israeli police or troops.

In Sheikh Jarrah, 28 Palestinian families have been facing forcible evacuation from their homes inhabited since 1956. The homes were built on Palestinian land given to the families by the Jordanian government, which ruled the area before the Israel occupation, in coordination with UNRWA.

The Zionist groups claim that this land belonged to them before they occupied Palestine in 1948. Palestinians deny this as it is the pretext that Israel uses to steal Palestinian lands from Palestinian owners.

In other developments, at least 270 Palestinians have been wounded in a violent Israeli crackdown on protests in the occupied West Bank on Friday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society announced.

Seven Palestinian protesters were wounded with live bullets, and 50 others were injured with rubber-coated metal bullets.

The others were either suffocated by tear gas or fell as they were chased by Israeli soldiers, suffering broken limbs.

Israeli occupation forces have cracked down on Palestinians protesting the Israeli settlements in the village of Beita on the outskirts of Nablus.

Other Palestinian protesters gathered in Beit Dajan, also in Nablus, and were violently dispersed by the Israeli occupation forces.

Every Friday, Palestinians organize marches and demonstrations in the occupied West Bank against illegal Israeli settlements and the Israeli apartheid wall.

Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate that about 700,000 settlers live in 164 settlements and 116 outposts in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces attacked hundreds of Palestinians in Hebron's neighborhood of Beit Amer as they took part in the funeral of Palestinian youth Shawkat Awad, 20, who succumbed to wounds he sustained during Israeli attacks on protests.
