Damascus (IP): Iran's Parliament speaker, visiting Damascus, met with around 50 businessmen, economic, industrial and agricultural activists of Iran and Syria on Tuesday.

Iran PressMiddle East: At the beginning of the meeting, held in the presence of the Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said: "Businessmen are frontrunners in economic and trade war."

Elaborating on the reason why he took this trip to Syria, Ghalibaf added: "We aim to expand Iran-Syria economic, agricultural and trade activities, and that is why my first meeting is with economic and trade activists."

He stated that he was determined to provide suitable grounds for the participation of the two countries' private sector in economic capacities and to develop this sector.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has visited Syria on an official invitation he received from the country to negotiate with senior Syrian officials on bilateral, regional and international economic cooperation.
