Tabriz (IP) - The mayor of Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran, announced that the Tabriz case, a creative city of literature, was sent to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Iran PressIran news: Iraj Shahin Baher said in an interview on Friday: "Tabriz is the origin of prominent artistic and literary schools and this city has been the place of meeting and rise of ‌many scholars, poets, and writers, including Saeb Tabrizi, Shams Tabrizi, Mullah Mohammad Fuzuli, Mohammad Hossein Shahriar, Parvin Etesami and Hammam Tabrizi."

He noted: "Tabriz has a very valuable and vast capacity for global interactions and gaining the title of creative city in terms of literature. To achieve this important goal, we started taking the necessary measures months ago."

Shahin Baher went on to say that previously, with the follow-up, a bill on Tabriz joining the network of creative world cities was approved by the Cultural Commission and the Islamic Council of the city, and after that, UNESCO experts in Tehran were present in Tabriz Municipality, and necessary and specialized measures were taken to complete the relevant documents based on the cultural and historical capacities of Tabriz in terms of literature.

The mayor of Tabriz expressed hope that with the finalization of the selection of this city as a creative city in terms of literature, they would witness the tangible effects of the good event in areas such as culture, tourism, and economy.
